About Halloween

Halloween is by far one of the most fun holidays there is. I'm not quite sure it's a holiday though. Ok I know it is the eve of the day of all saints, but you don't get the day off from work or class and no one is really sure about what is being celebrated. On the other hand people dress up and go out. Kids get candy, grown-ups get wasted, sounds like a pretty good holiday to me.
Disregarding its designation, Halloween is the day when you get to dress up and be someone or something else. Who wouldn't want to take advantage of that? I know I do. In the past I've gotten to be an 80's cartoon character who I loved as a kid, Strawberry Shortcake (aka Fresita o Frutillita). I was Eve, 'cause who wouldn't want to be the first woman alive? (FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING, please do not mistake me with Sarah Palin!). I was a Playboy bunny too, this was a result of watching way too many episodes of Girls Next Door. This year I'm sticking to the decade when I was born and dressing up as a girl that lived in a material world, got it? (I know, I'm sorry, I can't help being cheesy).
One of the things that I love about Halloween is that in the end is all about the candy. Kids go door to door asking trick-or-treat. Thinking about it grown men do the same thing. It is a known fact that, at least in the US, Halloween is an excuse for girls to wear as little clothing as possible without feeling that they will be criticized by other girls. It is the holiday that gets girls to release their alter-ego's, or in this case, their alter-ho's. This combined with drinking works out beautifully for guys who not only get eye candy, but actually get to take home some.
So dress up, have fun and get your candy 'cause this year Halloween is on a Friday!!

About South Park being more awesome than ever

South Park is probably one of the best shows on television today. If you factor out talking towels and turds, the writers of South Park always make excellent points about society today.
Everyone who knows me well enough knows that I am obsessed with South Park, I know it's a little bit 1997, but the quality has never gone down. Then, this week something awesome happened. Two things that I LOVE combined. This weeks episode of South Park was awesome!! Not only it was it very funny but it had GUINEA PIGS, giant guinea pigs.... You can't ask for better television. In any case, inspired by this week's episode I decided to make a list of my favorite South Park episodes, excluding the movie, which is probably the best South Park episode since it is bigger, longer and uncut (I couldn't help myself). I hope that if you have not seen any of these you get on it ASAP. Here it goes (in no particular order):
-TSST
-Pandemic
-Major Boobaje
-Rainforest Shmainforest
-Chinpokomon
-Canada on Strike
-Red Badge of Gayness
-Towelie
-The Entity
-Freak Strike
-The Simpsons Already Did it
-Christian Rock Hard
-All About Mormons?
-Cancelled
-Casa Bonita
-Good Times with Weapons
-You got F'd in the A
-Die Hippie Die
-Ginger Kids
-A Million Little Fibers
-Smug Alert
-Go God Go
-Go God Go XII
-D-Yikes
-Le Petit Tourette
-Miganinationland (1, 2 and 3)

About this blog

This blog is clear evidence of the effects of peer pressure. Everyone blogs so why shouldn't I?! Disregarding that fact, those who know me can say that I have way too many things to say. So I thought a good way of getting all these thoughts out of my head would be to write them so I don't annoy my friends or keep them to myself ;). Plus, I need a new hobby to keep me from being productive in lab and stalking people in facebook has become mundane lately.
A tiny bit about me, I am 23, live in NYC, originally Venezuelan, have 2 guinea pigs and go to grad school at NYU (Susan Schwab's lab). I am very particular about lots of stuff: examples include loving relish, science, air drying after showering and shoes; and hating butterflies, root beer and insufferable know-it-all's.
Seriously though, I hope people read this and enjoy it. I will do it in english so that my friends from here as well as those from back home can read it.
Enjoy!
Ale
